By the way, few months back, cinema halls got opened with 50% occupancy and people were not interested in watching small movies, except few movies. When you have a look at Hollywood movies, most of the theatres were shut and movie makers chosen OTT to release their movies.

The main reason for choosing OTT platform is that they don’t want to lose their invested money. So, this could be the main reason that most of the movies globally planned to release in OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon prime, Disney+hotstar and more. Even we could see that most of the series have been launching on such platforms. To make this thing to experience, all you need to spend small amount as subscription charges. Nowadays, most of them are showing their interest towards streaming the contents on OTT platforms alone due to covid related issues.

Well, this thing shows the ignorance towards the movie watching in big screens. Also, people found comfortable in watching or streaming the contents from home itself. At the same time, we can see that most of them are opting theatres for the big screen experience too. It is the main reason some of the movies managed to make at least break even. When it comes to India, there were most of the small budgeted movies failed miserably at the box office post 1st wave.

Even most of the Bollywood movies were postponed their release dates. At this stage, Vijay’s Tamil Blockbuster Master Movie was released as a Pongal treat with 50% occupancy. During the release, movie had a bumper opening and people were liked to an extent. After that, some movie makers were interested to release their movies in theatres itself with full courage. On the other hand, Bollywood biggie sooryavanshi released and collected big at the box office. Well, makers thought that this is the right time to release few more movies in theatres.

Box office struggles again

Unfortunately, people didn’t show their interest towards sport drama and makes the movie fail at the boxoffice. However, on the other side, spider man – no way home brings too many audiences to the cinema halls and managed to make huge money at the box office. Also, Telugu movie called Pushpa clicks extremely well at the boxoffice. When it comes to Tamil and Hindi dubbed version, this movie makes huge money.

But the fact is movie like 83 which garnered critically acclaimed reviews, unfortunately failed in boxoffice. So, this thing shows that people are expecting something entertainment to witness on the big screen. At this stage, again 3rd wave hits India and most of the theatres are in shut again. On the other hand, some of the states allowed up to 50% occupancy. Due to this reason, movies like Valimai, RRR, Radhe shyam postponed their release dates recently.

Due to biggies postponed, most of the small budget movies were released as Pongal releases. Unfortunately, people don’t show their interest to watch those movies on big screen. Also, they were flop at the boxoffice. Even some of the movies were off to disastrous start. Now, again movie makers are looking forward to launch their movies in OTT platforms as a safe bet.
